ABSTRACT
Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a serious pathology with high death and morbidity rate. There can be relationship between hydromyelia hydrocephalus following SAH; however, this subject has not been well investigated.Twenty-four rabbits (3 ± 0.4 years old; 4.4 0.5 kg) were used in study. Five of them as the control, five SHAM group. The remaining animals (n = 14) had study central canal volume values at C1-C2 levels, ependymal cells, numbers surfaces, Evans index lateral ventricles assessed compared.Choroid plexus edema increased water vesicles observed dilatation. brain was 0.33 0.05, mean 1.431 0.043 mm3, cells density 5.420 879/mm2 control group 5); 0.35 0.17, 1.190 0.114 4.135 612/mm2 0.44 0.68, 1.814 0.139 2.512 11/mm2 14). values, volumes, degenerated cell densities statistically significant (P < 0.05).This showed that occurs SAH-induced experimental hydrocephalus. Desquamation cerebrospinal fluid secretion may responsible factors development hydromyelia.
