ABSTRACT
Background: Ixora coccinea Linn., belonging to Rubiaceae family, often known as red and jungle of geranium , is an evergreen shrub that may be found throughout India. The Indian Traditional Medical System, Ayurveda, well numerous folk medicines, use the flowers, leaves, roots, stems cure various ailments. Aims Objectives: present study sheds some light on anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial activities different plant extracts javanica (IJ) analyzing its major bioactive component by Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Materials Methods: Cold maceration was performed for extraction dried flowers IJ with escalating polarity solvents (Petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, methanol), were screened activities. Results: acetate methanolic showed significant antioxidant activity at a concentration 400 μg/ml. similar anti-inflammatory dosage 500 mg/kg body weight in rats compared standard drug indomethacin. also against Escherichia coli Further analysis these two GC-MS, Methyl palmitate identified responsible activity. Moreover, due presence Vitamin E, tocopherol. Conclusion: Overall, it methanol effective imparting aforementioned pharmacological effects.
