ABSTRACT
Although smoking is known to accelerate aging, the mechanisms by which this occurs have not been fully clarified. Serum-soluble α-Klotho (sαKl), antiaging, anti-inflammatory, and developing resistance oxidative stress properties are known. This study aimed determine relationship between cigarette smoking, sαKl (antiaging hormone), inflammation, stress.Participants included in were divided into nonsmoking groups. sαKl, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), total antioxidant status (TAS), oxidant (TOS), index (OSI) assessed compared participants. There one hundred forty-six participants comprising 47 (32.2%) females 99 (67.8%) males. There 79 (54.1%) group 67 (45.9%) group. A significant difference was found groups respect of TAS (P < 0.001), OSI = 0.017), 0.013), hsCRP 0.024) values. negative correlation values years (r -0.271, P 0.038) pack-years -0.299, 0.021). Among group, a lower median value <3.84 pg/ml significantly associated with 0.028) 0.012).This that OSI, elevated those who smoke cigarette. Large prospective studies needed further elucidate area research.
