ABSTRACT
:Background: The fruits of Momordica charantia, commonly known as bitter melon, have been used a traditional medicine in several countries. Some studies reported its pharmacological effects various disorders. Objectives: Because there little reports on charantin's role an analgesic, we evaluated pain relief effect to determine if it could be novel killer candidate. Materials and Methods: We established post-operative neuropathic models, which represent acute chronic pain, respectively. Mechanical withdrawal threshold assay ultrasonic vocalization analysis were behavioral tests. Results: administration charantin reduced both the pain. application did not make difference activation action potentials dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. However, inhibited induction pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin IL-12 IL-1β DRG Conclusion: Our findings indicate that seems relieve by inhibiting inflammatory process rather than directly influencing activity conclude charantin, commercially available extract from M. has great efficacy analgesic compound.
