ABSTRACT
Sansevieria roxburghiana Schult. and f. (Asparagaceae) grows in India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, tropical Africa. Even though the plant has been traditionally used for treatment of many ailments, antioxidant antiproliferative activities S. methanol extract its fractions have not yet explored.Quantitative estimation phenols different assays were performed using standard methods. Anti-proliferative effect evaluated HCT-116, HeLa, MCF-7, HepG2, A-549 cancer cell lines by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) sulforhodamine B (SRB) assay High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) high-performance thin layer (HPTLC) fingerprint profiling carried out fractions.Significant anti-proliferate activity detected ethyl acetate fraction. Ethyl fraction showed prominent scavenging 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl, 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt, nitric oxide with an concentration yielding 50% inhibition (IC50) 15.33 ± 1.45, 45.3 1.93 48.43 0.46 mg/ml, respectively. Cytotoxicity was highest among other against MCF-7cancer IC50 values 16.55 1.28, 12.38 1.36, 8.03 1.9 μg/ml, respectively, MTT 15.57 0.70, 13.19 0.49, 10.34 0.9 SRB assay. The presence gallic acid rhizomes confirmed HPLC HPTLC analysis. Results suggested that exhibited effective activities. phenolic compounds identified could be responsible activities.Sansevieria selected vitro cytotoxicity screeningEthyl activitiesThe may due to compound which is techniques.
