ABSTRACT
Transrectal Doppler sonography was used to evaluate uterine blood flow during the first two weeks after parturition in six primiparous Simmental cows. The evaluated on day of (Day 0), once daily from Days 1 8 and then every other until Day 14. Blood quantified by determining diameter (D), time-averaged maximum velocity (TAMV), pulsatility index (PI) volume (BFV) arteries ipsilateral contralateral formerly pregnant horn.During four days calving D, TAMV BFV declined (ipsilateral: 70%, 87%, contralateral: D 47%, 84%; p 0.05), while PI increased (ipsilateral 158%, 100%; 0.05) distinctly.Between 4 14 only (12%) both 5%, 8%) decreased (p 0.05).Blood variables were very strongly correlated with each (r ±0.75, negative correlations positive all investigated factors.Overall, this study revealed characteristic changes perfusion cows that pronounced postpartum.
