ABSTRACT
Background: Physical exercise is known to cause significant joint changes. Thus, monitoring behavior of athletic horses essential in early disorders recognition, allowing the proper management. Objectives:The aims this study were determine morphological patterns, physical examination characteristics and ultrasound findings show jumping training establish a score-based model for follow-ups metacarpophalangeal changes these animals. Methods: A total 52 joints from 26 who initially taming stage evaluated, horses' progression was monitored. The evaluated by B-mode Doppler-mode examinations, starting at time zero (T0), which occurred concomitantly with beginning training, every 3 months thereafter follow-up period 18 months. Results: The standardized revealed an increase maximum flexion angles higher scores on examinations after scoring performed predefined assessment tools, especially between 6 evaluation, immediately started more intense training. The lameness score slightly end study. Conclusions: observed results probably caused implementation regimen adaptation conditioning. The most likely undergo preosteoarthritic due work overload, can manifest consistent or adaptive manner, as during study. Thus, continuous young athlete that be scored essential.
