ABSTRACT
Systemic RNAi, the spreading of RNAi effects to cells and tissues that have not initially encountered a dsRNA trigger, is common phenomenon in many organisms. However, underlying mechanisms systemic remain largely unknown. Here, we studied characteristics possible Locusta migratoria. We observed locust has pronounced sensitive response injection for both broadly-expressed as well tissue-specific genes. Only 30 pg (dsRNA / mg tissues) dose could induce significant effects. one SID-1 ortholog (LmSID-1) was identified genome, which exhibited progressively increasing expression pattern with development its enriched gonad. To test role LmSID-1 performed vitro vivo experiments. The results from experiments showed silencing gene influence other confirmed protein Drosophila S2 enhance uptake. Thus, these findings imply existence alternative insect may be different Caenorhabditis elegans or mammals.
