BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Diet plays an important role in growth and development of children.However, dietary intakes children living either rural or urban areas can be influenced by household income.This cross-sectional study examined energy, nutrient food group 749 (1-10 years old) income status.SUBJECTS/METHODS: Children's were obtained using recall record for two days.Diet adequacy was assessed based on recommended energy nutrients servings.RESULTS: For toddlers, all except fiber (5.5 g) exceeded intakes.Among older (preschoolers school children), calcium (548 mg, 435 mg) (7.4 g, 9.4 did not meet recommendations while percentage from total fat saturated fats 30% 10%, respectively.The mean sodium preschoolers (1,684 (2,000 relatively high.Toddlers groups had similar percentages meeting the intakes.However, low lowest (P < 0.05) most highest proportions that intakes.For groups, milk dairy products, age below servings.Compared to middle high intake fruits (0.07 serving), meat/poultry (0.78 serving) milk/dairy products (1.14 toddlers least (0.09 (0.54 respectively.CONCLUSION: Low socioeconomic status, as indicated income, could limit access adequate diets, particularly children.Parents caregivers may need guidance ensure quantity quality home supply foster healthy eating habits children.
