ABSTRACT
Gastro-esophageal reflux (GER), particularly non-acid reflux, is common in infants and a known cause of chronic respiratory symptoms infancy. Recent guidelines recommended empirical acid suppression therapy the head-up position patients with suspected GER. However, efficacy upright relieving GER reflux-related unclear. We conducted this study to investigate on symptoms.Thirty-two (21 male; median age, 5 months; range, 0 19 months) unexplained underwent multi-channel intraluminal esophageal impedance pH monitoring. retrospectively compared frequencies according body position.A mean 3.30 episodes per hour was detected. Overall, refluxes were more frequent during postprandial period than emptying (3.77 vs. 2.79 episodes/hour, respectively; P=0.01). Although there no significant difference total between recumbent positions (6.12 3.77 episodes, P=0.10), significantly fewer kept an (3.07% 14.75%, P=0.016). Non-acid predominant type infants, regardless or meal time. The may reduce symptoms, rather frequency. Thus, it be useful non-pharmacological treatment for infantile disease resistant suppressants.
