ABSTRACT
Rifampin is commonly used as a first-line anti-tuberculosis drug, but it can induce serum sickness-like reaction or anaphylaxis. However, possible for 1 drug antigen to 2 more simultaneous immunologic reactions. Here, we report case of serum-sickness-like and anaphylaxis induced concurrently by rifampin. A 25-year-old male presented with high fever maculopapular rash vesicles on the hands, which developed weeks following regular administration drugs tuberculous meningitis, including Elevated liver enzymes, peripheral neuropathy, decreased C3 C4 levels were found. Interestingly, these symptoms accompanied severe hypotension. was considered after excluding other potential causes fever. provocation test showed that oral rifampin, suggesting rifampin cause allergic reaction. hypotension, epigastric discomfort, diarrhea also symptoms, indicating IgE-mediated type I hypersensitivity could be part An intradermal skin clearly an immediate positive This diagnosed concurrent One may therefore combined reactions via responses.
