ABSTRACT
Purpose: Reports evaluating diagnosis and cross reactivity of quinolone hypersensitivity have revealed contradictory results.Furthermore, there are no reports investigating the cross-reactivity between gemifloxacin (GFX) others. We aimed to detect usefulness diagnostic tests reactions quinolones evaluate different including latest GFX.Methods: We studied 54 patients (mean age 42.31±10.39years; 47 female) with 57 due 10 nonatopic tolerable control subjects.A detailed clinical history, skin test (ST), single-blind placebo-controlled drug provocation (SBPCDPT), as well basophil activation (BAT) lymphocyte transformation (LTT) were performed culprit alternative ciprofloxacin (CFX), moxifloxacin (MFX), levofloxacin (LFX), ofloxacin (OFX), GFX.Results: The majority (75.9%) reported immediate type various quinolones. The most common was CFX (52.6%) reaction urticaria (26.3%).A quarter (24.1%) reacted SBPCDPTs, although their STs negative; while false ST positivity 3.5% ST/SBPCDPTs concordance only 1.8%.Both BAT LTT not found useful in hypersensitivity.Cross-reactivity primarily observed LFX OFX (50.0%), whereas it least MFX others, GFX hypersensitive degree other 16.7%.Conclusions: These results suggest that STs, BAT, supportive a prediction cross-reactivity.Drug (DPTs) necessary identify both quinolones.
