ABSTRACT
Leptin, a peptide hormone, regulates endocrine function and maintains body weight homeostasis by regulating food intake energy expenditure via hypothalamus-mediated effects. Impairment in leptin signaling induces obesity, major health problem worldwide. Leptin other physiological processes such as angiogenesis, hematopoiesis also has effects on the reproductive, cardiovascular immune systems. Despite its biomedical importance, comprehensive catalog of events activated is not available public resource. Therefore, we initiated cataloging molecular reactions this pathway to develop detailed reaction map signaling. For benefit scientific community, provided through NetPath (http://www.netpath.org), freely accessible resource previously developed our group. We anticipate that leptin/leptin receptor data comprising these will enable future investigations.
