ABSTRACT
This study was designed to evaluate the gastroprotective activity of cirsilineol in hydrochloric acid (HCl)/ethanol-induced gastric ulcer model.Cirsilineol administered at doses 20 and 40 mg/kg HCl/ethanol-induced rats. The ability verified by determining score, total acidity, hemoglobin, inflammatory cytokines, lipid peroxides, enzymatic antioxidants superoxide dismutase (SOD) catalase (CAT) tissue serum biochemical analysis. The results showed a favorable increase hemoglobin level, antioxidant enzymes (SOD CAT), restored electrochemical balance (carbon dioxide & anion gap) while noticeable decrease index, cytokines (interleukin-1 beta [IL-1β], IL-6, tumor necrosis factor alpha) rats treated with cirsilineol. The analysis on liver markers (alkaline phosphatases, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase), kidney (urea, creatinine, albumin, globulin, protein), profile (triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein, cholesterol) were attenuated treatment rats.Histopathology enhanced protection preserved integrity mucosa upon administration. These ultimately suggest that has effects prevent development ulcer.
