ABSTRACT
Solar radiation reflectance was analysed to characterize Arctic ornithogenic tun− dra developing in the vicinity of large breeding colony Brunnich's guillemots Uria lomvia and kittiwakes Rissa tridactyla at foot Gnalberget cliff (Hornsund, SW Spitsbergen). Radiometric method found be a useful tool for studying structure functioning plant formations. We measured four wavelengths: 554 nm (YG), 655 (RED), 870 (NIR) 1650 (SWIR) 10 plots situated along transect running from sea. Moreover, data community character, species quantitative composition as well total biomass were collected relate these pa− rameters with spectral values. The results showed that radiometric characterized vegetation enough recognize same communities on basis distinguished traditional phytosociological methods.
