Assessment of Phytosanitary Practices in Peri-Urban Agriculture and Associated Environmental and Health Impacts in Developing Countries: Case of Abengourou City (Côte d’Ivoire)

ABSTRACT
The use of phytosanitary products remains uncontrolled and abusive in the practice market gardening most developing countries. However, it one potential sources environmental contamination public health problems. This study examines risks associated with town Abengourou Cote d’Ivoire. Field surveys carried out among all (30) gardener sites housed 150 farmers showed that when were spread, no safety measures observed. Approximately 80% respondents did not wear gloves or face masks. Some used approved for gardening. Farmers had itching, dizziness, headaches, colds vomiting on a regular basis applying products. also revealed presence empty packaging surrounding surface water ground. In addition to producers, this type likely exposes consumers high contributes degradation. Raising awareness stakeholders good agricultural practices could help promote sustainable studies effects such an environment deserve be out.
