ABSTRACT
Various theories and analytical formulations were implemented exploited in the 1980s 1990s for design of bridge beams or decks curved horizontal plane subjected to out-of-plane loads. Nowadays, Finite Element Method (FEM) is a valid tool analysis structures with complex geometries and, therefore, development sophisticated not needed anymore. However, they are still useful validation FE models. This paper presents case study an existing viaduct built North Italy, aiming compare approaches numerical modelling. The characterized by axis two directions rectilinear segment. global carried out special attention attributes that cause torque action bending moment. theoretical developments focus on deeper understanding torsional response under different constraint loading conditions aspire raise awareness mutual interaction flexural behaviour, always present these systems. examination also obtained comparing isostatic hyperstatic curvilinear steel box-girders.
