ABSTRACT
Introduction: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious respiratory disease caused by SARS-CoV-2. The was first broke out in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and subsequently spread to all countries considered WHO as a worldwide pandemic. This study aimed determine the epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 presence UK variants Zintan city Libya taking some risk factors into account. Methods: In cross-sectional retrospective study, total 15486 nasopharyngeal swabs were collected from COVID-19 suspected patients, travelers people need disease-free certificates for hospital admission, etc. samples during period August 2020 June 2021 tested using real-time RT-PCR (rRT-PCR) kits variants. Age groups, sex, monthly weather factors. Results: positivity rate estimated be (3891; 25.12%) 2021. Females showed significantly (p < 0.05) higher (2100; 54%) compared males (1791; 46%). Out 3891 positive cases, 52 deceased. Case Fatality Rate (CFR) 1.33 recorded cases aged ≥ 65 years which (56.66%) than females (43.33%). peak wave infection October (590; 15.15%) whereas second April (727; 18.71%). decreased temperature increased. variant detected firstly May with percentage 6.2% samples. Conclusions: Health Authorities are encouraged continue implementing control measures decrease phase stop transmission virus next wave. Early detection new studying their genetic characteristics play valuable role prevention control.
