ABSTRACT
Objectives: Atlantoaxial dislocation remains a rare and serious condition with high preoperative postoperative morbidity mortality. Its successful surgical management is still challenging gratifying for neurosurgeons. Several technics have been described such as wiring, trans articular screwing, C1C2 screwing plate screw introduced by Goel et al., modified insertion of polyaxially rod many years later Harms. Unavailability expensiveness upper cervical spine instrumentation device led us to Wiring resulting in good outcome. Finally, quadriplegic patient more comfortable financial had ordered devices from abroad benefit Harms technique improved dramatically ASIA A E. Material methods: This retrospective study patients managed our department same neurosurgeon January 2019 April 2024. Results: We defined 6 men 1 woman an average age 33 years. Unrestrained driver rollover motor vehicle accident was most common. Only one neurologically intact on admission. Neurovegetative disorders were noticed patient. Dislocation associated fracture the dens two patients. Three successfully operated remarkable outcome, mostly Conclusion: represents effective cheaper technic. Therefore, this technic should deserve consideration above all low incomes countries when are not available. Seatbelt be demanded drivers passengers.
