LIVE BAIT TRADE AS A PATHWAY FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF NON-NATIVE SPECIES: THE FIRST RECORD OF Dilocarcinus pagei IN THE PARANAPANEMA RIVER BASIN

ABSTRACT
Brazil has one of the most significant diversity freshwater fish in world, and this drives trade fishing tourism. Several species sport have characteristics behaviors that favor tourism its related activities. Live baits are widely used fisheries across country, at end fisheries, is common anglers may release remaining bait rivers, lakes or reservoirs. Here we report for first time crab Dilocarcinus pagei Paranapanema River basin, list were introduced similarly. During field samplings between 2012/2016, 2018/2019, captured 10 individuals D. pagei. One female Rosana Reservoir; two juveniles, six males Taquaruçu Reservoir. The literature review revealed 16 as live bait, 15 species. Gymnotiformes largest number bait. basins had introduction cases Upper Paraná, Iguaçu, Paraíba do Sul Rivers. Paraguay-Lower Paraná was system contributed with nine to invaded ecoregion Brazil, basin.
