ABSTRACT
Objectives The Korean government has enacted two laws, namely, the Personal Information Protection Act and Bioethics Safety to prevent unauthorized use of medical information. To protect patients' privacy by complying with governmental regulations improve convenience research, Asan Medical Center been developing a de-identification system for biomedical research. Methods We reviewed define scope methods well-known previous research platforms extract functionalities systems. Based on these review results, we implemented necessary programs based System framework which was built using Microsoft. NET Framework C#. Results developed comprises three main components: tool, search chart tool. tool can substitute randomly assigned ID hospital patient ID, remove identifiers in structured format, mask them unstructured i.e., texts. This achieved 98.14% precision 97.39% recall 6,520 clinical notes. find number patients satisfies given criteria. provide de-identified patient's data purposes. Conclusions found that warehouse essential successful implementation system, this should be tightly linked an electronic Institutional Review Board easy operation honest brokers. Additionally, secure cloud environment could adopted more thoroughly. Keywords: Access Information, Systems, Research Design, Ethics, Biomedical
