Resource situation investigation about Rheum tanguticum and its sustainable utilization analysis in main production area of China

This study was conducted to investigate the wild and cultivated resource situation of Rheum tanguticum in main production area China, estimate its reserves, put forward feasible approach for sustainable utilization R. tanguticum. On basis literature data about tanguticum, conbined with interview, investigation sampling investigation, total reserve resources is estimated using route-quadrat method vegetation soil-type map proposed by our research group. The results indicate that there no obvious change between present distribution ranges historical records, but population density has changed clearly. seriously declined lots place, even faced exhaustion some regions. According more than 5 000 t, 1 607 t. nearly depleted, this suggests should be enrolled protection plant list, will become Rhubarb future. So it extremely neccessary collect protect germplasm establish nursery repository, conduct breeding on those bases.
