ABSTRACT
Introduction:Various perioperative problems occur in patients operated on brain tumors. While many studies focused the longterm effects of surgery, few period. The aim this study to evaluate clinical and laboratory features determining factors which are effecting outcome for tumors our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).Methods: Patients who underwent intracranial tumor surgery PICU during eight-year period were retrospectively screened. Results: Seventy-four included study, mean age was 60 (1.5-192) months, supratentorial detected 41 (55.4%) patients. The median length stay (LOS) 5 (1-150) days. When localization, ventriculoperitoneal shunt presence, central venous catheter related bloodstream infection, ventilator-associated pneumonia other infections evaluated, a statistically significant difference found between two groups when patients' LOS is evaluated 2 more than 15 days (77%) less (23%).In postoperative period, diabetes insipidus (DI) 12 (16%), septicemia 9 (12%), infection 8 (10%), hydrocephalus 7 (9%), seizures (6%), cranial nerve palsy (6%) patients. Conclusion:Neurological sequelae increased with younger common infratentorial relationship delta sodium DI first 4 days, without neurological sequelae.
