ABSTRACT
PDPH incidence also decrease (8-10).It has been reported that the click sensation felt in dural punctures performed Abs tractAim: The type and diameter of needle used spinal anesthesia (SA) affect procedure's success clicking during a dura puncture. This study aimed to compare effects Quincke pencil-point needles same thickness, when by residents new SA application, on procedural number trials required perceive sensation. Methods: This prospective randomized included 213 adult patients undergoing elective surgery under SA, divided into six groups based diameter: Group I: (Q)-25 Gauge (G), II: Q-26G, III: Q-27G, IV: Pencil-point (P)-25G, V: P-26G, VI: P-27G.The interventions for (1-3), attempt (1, 2, or ≥3) which stylet was removed cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow occurred, considering procedure, time taken CSF appearance (<1.9 s ≥2 seconds) were recorded. Results:No difference found between terms demographic data, American Society Anesthesiologists risk, puncture site, trials, appearance, feasibility procedure (p>0.05).The rate first trial (p<0.001) higher used. Conclusion:Although with different tip designs diameters are similar, due high trial, use is recommended application.
