ABSTRACT
An investigation was conducted to determine the infection rate of intestinal parasites among 312 primary and post school children in randomly selected schools five communities Ilesa West Local Government Area, Osun State, Nigeria, between January July, 2005. Faecal samples were collected from these subjects examined. Direct saline iodine preparations examined as well preparation sedimentation technique. The kato-katz technique used for determination intensity worm infestation. 151 (48.40%) infected. Ascaris lumbricoides Entamoeba histolytica found study population. Out infected, 122 (39.10%) positive A. 29 (9.29%) E. histolytica. Age group 5 7 years mostly (50.00%) infected age 13 15 (54.12%) post-primary school. light (100 3,000 egg) both post–primary schools. overall males females 20.79 28.21% respectively, which implies that higher but not statistically significant (P>0.05). differences observed rates locations also
