ABSTRACT
To assess the influence of water fluoride level on periodontal status, by determining health status subjects residing in low, optimum and high areas.A cross sectional survey was carried out 967 adults aged 35-44 years old, from Udaipur district India. A stratified cluster random sampling technique implemented order to collect a representative sample low (<0.6 ppm), (0.6 - 1.2 ppm) (>3 areas, based concentration drinking water. Periodontal assessed accordance WHO criteria. The Chi-square test used compare proportions, logistic regression analysis determine contribution levels disease. Those areas were more likely present pockets than those living 1.3 (95 % CI 1.11+/-1.86). Subjects noted have higher risk attachment loss 8mm (OR = 1.94, 95% 1.67+/-3.85). for presence increased 1.17 1.02+/-1.69) 1.59 1.27+/-3.29) respectively levels. Deep prevalent (6.3%) among fluoride, followed (5.2%) (3.1%).As concentrations increased, prevalence shallow deep decreased. severity disease significantly associated with levels, cases gradually decreasing when moving areas. It appears that longitudinal studies need be conducted ascertain benefits; microbiological dental plaque periodontium should confirm effects conditions.
