ABSTRACT
The blue‐green algae Microcystis aeruginosa and Phormidium tenue were grown in nutrient‐limited continuous cultures together mixed under various N:P supply ratios temperatures. Droop model accurately described the growth of these two algae. Competitive abilities for P N distinctively differed among In competition experiments, M. was superior competitor conditions low N: ratio high temperature, whereas P. : which corresponded to field observations algal community Lake Kasumigaura. Both laboratory suggest that temperature are significant environmental factors affecting relative abundances .
