ABSTRACT
With an increase in tourists originating from Asia, the geographies of tourism have changed considerably recent decades. Arguably, however, scholarship remains largely Western-centric. In this research note, we focus on one particular area where Western-centrism may be especially problematic: tourist culture. As part this, draw a case study ‘lifestyle travel’ to illustrate need for more inclusive, diverse and non-Western-centric (auto)ethnographic/(auto)biographical studies culture scholarship. so doing, argue that such useful capturing stories ‘Others’, thus helping broaden our knowledge base light tourism’s shifting geographies.
