ABSTRACT
Our goal is to perform in-depth ensemble asteroseismology of the young open cluster NGC2244 with 2-wheel Kepler mission. While nominal mission already implied a revolution in stellar physics for solar-type stars and red giants, it was not possible asteroseismic studies massive OB because such targets were carefully avoided FoV order disturb exoplanet hunting. Now an excellent time fill this hole capacity focus on metal factories Universe, which evolution theory least adequate. white paper aims remedy major shortcomings structure most by focusing large selected cluster. Cluster very as those has advantage that all have similar age, distance initial chemical composition, implying drastic restrictions modeling compared single isolated different ages metallicities. study requires long-term photometric measurements visual magnitude ranging from 6.5 15 precision better than 30 ppm brightest members (magnitude below 9) up 500 fainter ones, well achievable 2-Wheel Kepler, combination high-precision high-resolution spectroscopy spectro-polarimetry pulsating members. These ground-based spectroscopic data will be assembled HERMES CORALIE spectrographs (twin 1.2m Mercator Euler telescopes, La Palma, Canary Islands Silla, Chile), spectro-polarimetric NARVAL instrument (2m BLT at Pic du Midi, French Pyrenees), we guaranteed access.
