ABSTRACT
Image segmentation, the process of separating elements within an image, is frequently used for obtaining information from photomicrographs. However, segmentation methods should be with reservations: incorrect can mislead when interpreting regions interest (ROI), thus decreasing success rate additional procedures. Multi-Level Starlet Segmentation (MLSS) and Optimal (MLSOS) were developed to address photomicrograph deficiency on general tools. These gave rise Jansen-MIDAS, open-source software which a scientist use obtain multi-level threshold his/hers This presented in two versions: text-based version, GNU Octave, graphical user interface (GUI) MathWorks MATLAB. It several types images, becoming reliable alternative scientist.
