ABSTRACT
The understanding of how the arrangement defects in photonic crystals impacts its properties is cru-cial for design functional materials based thereon. By preparing with random missing scatterers we create where disorder embodied as vacancies an otherwise perfect lattice rather than usual positional or size disorder. We show that amount not only determines intensity but also nature light scattering. As varies, scattering undergoes a transition whereby signatures gaps (Bragg peak) suffer line-shape changes dip) can be readily described Fano resonance q parameter. When reaches percolation threshold, sign change signaling from crystal to mosaic microcrystals through state maximum. Beyond point system reenters low ap-pears guise normal Bragg diffraction.
