ABSTRACT
We report on measurements of the photoluminescence properties single nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond at temperatures between 4 K and 300 K. observe a strong reduction PL intensity spin contrast ca. 10 100 that recovers to high levels below above. Further, we find rich dependence magnetic bias field crystal strain. develop comprehensive model based mixing orbital hopping electronic excited state quantitatively explains observations. Beyond more complete understanding excited-state dynamics, our work provides novel approach for probing electron-phonon interactions predictive tool optimizing experimental conditions quantum applications.
