ABSTRACT
We report on IXPE, NICER and XMM-Newton observations of the magnetar 1E 2259+586. find that source is significantly polarized at about or above 20% for all phases except secondary peak where it more weakly polarized. The polarization degree strongest during primary minimum which also phase an absorption feature has been identified previously (Pizzocaro et al. 2019). angle photons are consistent with a rotating vector model mode switch between rest rotation neutron star. propose scenario in emission (as condensed surface) and, as radiation passes through plasma arch, resonant cyclotron scattering off protons produces observed radiation. This confirms nature surface field greater than 1015 G
