ABSTRACT
In drinking water treatment, activated carbon under granular or powdered form is commonly used as it adsorbs and thus reduces dissolved organic compounds well micropollutants. The addition of powder for wastewater applications a process that has attracted the attention operators following publication promising results implementation more stringent discharge regulations. In fact, fines must be removed before treated into natural environment. This study presents filtration tests with inside-to-out polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membranes combined coagulant to polish discharge.Constant measurement quality parameters such spectral absorption coefficient will show reduction organics by prior approximately 20%.In order confirm an added value in terms lowering concentrations micropollutants, selected micropollutants have been analyzed both raw filtrate showing these substances can reached. Results content reduced 33% DOC, 54% COD overall 80% reached hybrid process.Long-term followup operation demonstrates polishing step do not suffer from any performance integrity loss.On contrary, shown breakthroughs elevated negatively impact step. The finally reductions operational expenditures which achieved discontinuous dosing.
