Oral Health Status and Treatment Needs of Inmates in District Jail of Mathura City – A Cross Sectional Study

ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Objectives To assess the oral health status and treatment needs of inmates of, District Jail Mathura. MATERIALS AND METHODS A cross sectional study was carried out on (N=870) in district jail Proforma related to general demographic information filled by examiner subjects were clinically examined using WHO 1997 “Oral Health Assessment Form RESULTS This revealed that 92.5% male. 53.8% never visited dentist & 87% received any type dental care during imprisonment. Prevalence pro-mucosal lesion 59.8%. Inmates had poor periodontal conditions 79% caries with mean DMFT 4.79. CONCLUSION Periodontal disease, mucosal lesions are major public problem among inmates, which require special attention efforts from government other organizations meet their needs.
