ABSTRACT
The aim of this retrospective study was to investigate anatomical structure mandibular canal and the factors those increase possibility inferior alveolar nerve damage in third molar region Turkish population. Overall 320 participants with 436 molars were included from four different centers. Following variables measured: type depth impaction, position relation molars, morphology canal, cortication status possible contact between thickness density superior, buccal, lingual wall, bucco-lingual apico-coronal diameters on cone-beam computed tomography scans. Lingual wall decreased significantly as impaction increased (P = 0.045, P 0.001 respectively). Highest buccal observed 0.021, 0.034 Mandibular oval/round had higher diameter comparison tear drop dumbbell morphologies 0.018). Additionally, canals border no denser thicker 0.003, Buccal density, may be related high-risk indicators injury.
