ABSTRACT
In Europe, buildings are responsible for 40% of energy consumption and about 35% the current building stock is over 50 years old. A significant part this determined by buildings’ characteristics. However, cities complex systems with a diverse very large number and, as consequence, quantification in existing requires characterization set types that may represent most built urban environment. It therefore necessary to limit analyse, compromise between feasibility accuracy. As such, there need establish methods define sets limited numbers archetypes, but still able entire stock. Furthermore, it important understand which restrictions can development these classifications. This paper presents method intended characterize archetypes an effective simplification modelling The enables different levels classification dependent on available data documented sources, well definition several parameters related final model goal. result archetypal tree-data structure detail archetype tiers, allow structuring typification base evaluation techniques their uncertainty. applied city Lisbon. results show how much be simplified many should considered. particular, proves creation depends highly level considered availability reliable data. product work, complete dataset Lisbon provided, recommendations improving or expanding information.
