Bicycle Related Injuries in Adults and Children in the Central Anatolian Region: Analysis of 4 Years

ABSTRACT
Objective: We aimed to investigate and compare the features of child adult injuries due bicycle accidents admitted our emergency department. Material Methods: The study was carried out retrospectively by searching files patients department in archive records between dates January 2005-December 2008. were divided into two groups as adults children. Age sex patients, season or month injuries, place mechanism injury, site diagnosis treatment modalities, discharge hospitalization rates evaluated. Student t test used for group comparison. Results: A total 150 included study. 79% age group, 21% adults. It determined that number increased especially summer months. 71.4% concerning children all occurred streets. Falling off most common cause injury (91%) (90%). head neck region body subjected both (32%) (40%). There a significant difference with respect severity. Conclusion: Most happen, streets, months during school vacations. Although not statistically significant, it seen more serious. (JAEM 2012; 11: 35-40)
