ABSTRACT
Inadequate adaptation to long-term treatment of chronic illnesses is the most common reason for inability obtain benefits medications can provide. Treatment compliance influenced by several factors. Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire (BMQ) developed Horne et al. in 1999 evaluate cognitive representation medicines have many validation studies, which resulted good psychometric properties. The aim present study was reliability and validity BMQ Turkish translation patients with asthma obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Fifty 50 COPD participated this methodological study. scale adapted through translation, comparison other language versions, back a pre-test. structural assessed using factor analysis.Similar original scale, analysis confirmed that had four-factor structure accounts 58.23% total variance. showed an acceptable internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha coefficient: specific-necessity, 0.832: specific-concerns, 0.722; general-harm, 0.792; general-overuse, 0.682). revealed same patterns all questions between scales.The properties were consistent those reported We found valid reliable tool assessing medicine-related beliefs COPD.
