ABSTRACT
We aimed to evaluate the predictive value of elastography in determining malignancy during preoperative investigation thyroid nodules and compare its results with fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNA) postoperative histopathology results.Among group patients who had indications for thyroidectomy between January 2013- September 2013 department general surgery 86 euthyroid were prospectively included study. Informed consent was obtained from all patients. All received simultaneous ultrasonography by an experienced radiologist. The classified into five scores according Tsukuba scoring. Score 1 2 evaluated as soft (benign), score 3 medium consistency (usually benign), 4 5 hard (malignant). For statistical purposes, FNA benign, probably benign or malignant. histopathological compared findings. The revealed 60.5% 17.4% high probability 22.1% malignant cases; diagnosed 38.4% 23.3% nodules. pathology evaluation 67.4% 32.6% rate detection cancer cases (sensitivity) 67.9%, ability distinguish healthy individuals (specificity) 75.9%, overall adequacy method (accuracy) determined 73.3%.Elastography overlaps especially cytology-pathology at a rate, provides definite diagnosis 58% cases. In our study, provided more reliable than FNA, terms diagnosing malignancy.
