ABSTRACT
Abstract. Different entrainment–mixing processes can occur in clouds; however, a homogeneous mixing mechanism is often implicitly assumed most commonly used microphysics schemes. Here, we first present new parameterization that uses the grid mean relative humidity without requiring of entrained air. Then, implemented scheme large eddy simulation model, and sensitivity experiments are conducted to compare with default parameterization. The results indicate has larger impact on number concentration, volume radius, cloud optical depth stratocumulus case than cumulus case. This because inhomogeneous mechanisms dominate cases, respectively, which mainly due turbulence dissipation rate Because clouds break up during stage form clouds, effects this between those mature A aerosol concentration enhance by decreasing droplet size evaporation timescale. validated use different parameterized air properties. study sheds light improvement parameterizations models.
