The new Euskalmet coastal–maritime warning system

Abstract. This work presents the main characteristics of Basque Meteorology Agency (Euskalmet) maritime–coastal risk warning system, with special emphasis on latest updates, including a clear differentiation specific messages addressing sea conditions for navigation purposes in first 2 nautical miles, and expected coastal impacts. Some details bulletin maritime situations are also presented, together other communication products strategies used severe episodes at coast. Today, three different aspects included coastal–maritime system Country, related to potential events that affecting activities. – "Galerna" relates sudden wind reversal can severely affect recreational "Navigation" state 0–2 "Coastal impact" adverse wave tidal surges induce flooding impacts littoral areas.
