ABSTRACT

The Garraf Massif is a remarkable example of geodiversity in karstic environment. It located next to the Catalan coast, SW Barcelona city, and formed mainly by Cretaceous Jurassic carbonate rocks which karst develops. contains many exokarstic morphologies (microforms megaforms), as well an extraordinary endokarst, represented large caves deep vertical shafts, condition drainage.

Within framework "Geoanthropic Map Catalonia" project carried out Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya (ICGC), series cartographies have been made published at 1:25 000 scale, with total extension about 650 km2, has allowed detailed mapping different present study area (karren, skinholes, palaeopolje, etc.).

The aim this work is, on one hand, analyse diversity environment describing landforms, other offer overview some aspects linked massif, such relationship between morphology structure lithology subterranean hydrology, or physicochemical characterization residual sediments from decalcification (terra rossa) that are found filling sinkholes cracks rock.

It active very efficient well-ranked drainage system, coexists developed paleokarst, whose main witness Begues polje several paleo-caves unearthed along coastline.

The protected natural (Plan Espacios Interés Natural), so it benefits high degree protection, included inventory Places Geological Interest Spain (Geozone 348), being laboratory richness great didactic, informative, scientific value.
