ABSTRACT
In multi-cultural Sri Lankan conditions, poultry meat is paramount importance in ensuring food security and improving nutrition. Issues as contact dermatitis ammonia emission broiler industry which caused by diminished litter parameters cause reduction of quality, profits environmental conditions. Therefore use Turmeric (Curcuma longa) (TM) powder an antiseptic amendment at several application levels to enhance with microbial demolition was attempted. Three months old (2 kg) sample taken initial pH moisture determined. used mix 0%, 1%, 3%, 5% 8% (w/w). After mixing, 150 g mixed placed container for each level the 4 replicates, incubated 5h analyzed Total Plate Count (TPC), Yeast Mold (YMC), total Nematode (NC), emission, moisture. Significant (p <0.05) bacteria seen (20%, 46%, 95% 96%) when applications TM. The YMC also significant (34%, 41%, 55% 65%). nematode 22%, 45%, 62.5% 70%. A increment TM (0.1, 2, 3 3%). Moisture (%) increased (6, 0.78, 19 1%). Ammonia significantly decreased (64, 68, 73 84%) against control. It concluded that bacterial, fungal, counts, can be reduced (w/w) turmeric powder.
