Prevalence and Risk Factors of Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders in Infants in Indonesia

ABSTRACT
Information regarding functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) in infants is currently lacking Indonesia. This study aimed to describe the prevalence and risk factors of FGIDs aged 6 weeks 4 months Indonesia.This cross-sectional 433 was conducted between September 2018 February 2020. on collected using Infant Gastrointestinal Symptom Questionnaire Feeding Practice Gut Comfort Questionnaire. Adapted Rome IV criteria were used define FGIDs.The regurgitation 26.3%; 16.8% presented crying-related symptoms 5.5% exhibited constipation. The statistical analyses revealed that constipation associated with sex (odds ratio [OR], 2.74; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.07-7.71; p=0.043), employment father (OR, 0.3; CI, 0.12-0.77; p=0.01), education mother 1.92; 1.07-3.51; p=0.031). Understanding determinants will benefit healthcare professionals parents improve infant's quality life better manage these condition.
