ABSTRACT
The name of worship place is closely related to history, ideology, power, and social. Naming a symbol how power represented through text in public spaces. This study aims look at an environmental print by investigating the performance religions Malang, Indonesia, use language names places. Data was taken photography totaling 157 including mosques, churches, Buddhist temples, Hindu Chinese temples. Linguistic landscape analysis carried out investigate information symbolic functions. results show that writing involves seven languages, namely Bahasa Arabic, English, Javanese, Sanskrit, Dutch, Chinese. Monolingual, bilingual, multilingual forms emerge with Indonesia involvement all patterns. These findings indicate has high level competence society, addition policy, prestige. Indonesian used places worship. It also found English. two languages combine support existence religious ideologies region. Other are only able characterize ethnic identities.
