ABSTRACT
Objectives Recent research has indicated concern for the degree of stress and emotional well-being among university staff. This study examined effectiveness yoga in enhancing resilience to employees. Methods In a randomized controlled trial at British university, we recruited 48 employees them into either or wait-list control group. The group was offered six weeks Dru Yoga, comprising one 60-minute class per week. These classes were by certified Yoga instructor lunchtime from January–March 2008. received no intervention during this six-week study. Baseline end-program measurements self-reported mood self-assessed with Profile Mood States – Bipolar (POMS-Bi) Inventory Positive Psychological Attitudes (IPPA). Results resulted significantly improved POMS-Bi IPPA scores compared seven eight measures well-being. comparison baseline end program, reported marked improvements feelings clear-mindedness, composure, elation, energy, confidence. addition, increased life purpose satisfaction, greater self-confidence stressful situations. Conclusion results show that even short program is effective workplace. We suggest employers should consider offering their
