ABSTRACT
In a climate where standard methods of construction are being challenged, developments in engineered timbers allowing mass timber to be explored as sustainable alternative current building that can change the future built environment.Cross-laminated (CLT) is at forefront this evolution and, with advancement computational design and digital fabrication tools, there lies an opportunity redefine construction. This project creates connections inspired by traditional Japanese joinery have been adapted used for panel CLT structures.Using combination modelling advanced fabrication, utilizes offcuts primary connection material. The system not only reduces waste but also mitigates thermal bridging lowers number points whilst increasing ease fabrication.Connection systems designed prototyped using robotic arm then evaluated within context scale considers largescale onsite assembly continuing focus on reduction waste.
