ABSTRACT
This study evaluated the soil seed bank’s germination potential and density in five distinct environmental areas namely: a) regenerated forest, b) secondary c) degraded pasture, d) Eucalyptus sp. plantation e) fallow corn growing area, with a view to regenerate forests Western Amazonia using tray methodology. We assessed floristic similarity diversity Jaccard Similarity Index Shannon Diversity Index, respectively. computed each species’ phytosociological parameters: density, frequency importance value of species. recorded total 3674 individuals from 51 species 21 families. The families highest richness were Asteraceae, Malvaceae, Cyperaceae Poaceae that contributed 43% observed. most important analysis Chamaesyce hirta, Corchorus aestuans, Cyperus iria prostrata. All had herbaceous life form, which literature, are considered weeds. documented largest number area 3620 plants m-2 smallest forest 183 m-2. observed greatest between (40%), (H '= 2.59 nats individual-1). In conclusion, transposition bank is not recommended for regeneration recovery due massive weed predominance bank.
