Reproductive Biology of Ethmalosa fimbriata (Bowdich) in Senegalese Coastal Waters

ABSTRACT
Ethmalosa fimbriata is a very abundant species in marine and estuarine waters of Senegal. It caught only by artisanal fisheries. Some aspects its reproduction are studied order to provide some contribution rational sustainable management the fishery. To evaluate , sex ratio, size at first maturity, evolution sexual maturity stages gonadosomatic index (GSI) were used. The results show that ratio 46% males 54% females estuary while sea it 42% against 58% females. Size 16.2 cm for 17.5 these sizes respectively equal 17.2 18.7 males. main breeding periods during cold season hot sea. with small eggs high fecundity. absolute relative fecundity higher than
